It’s a great day to be an Anacoco Indian! I’m Whitney Mawae, the new principal at AHS, and I’m
so very excited to be here! I’m coming here from Leesville Junior High, where I worked for the
past four years as the Assistant Principal. This year is my twenty-fifth year as an educator. I
spent the first seven years of my career teaching English Language Arts to 7 th and 8 th graders,
and the latter part of my career teaching high school English at various levels. After spending
twenty-one years in the classroom, I decided that I wanted to try administration, and I am so
glad I did! I love getting to work with so many different faculty and staff in trying to make each
students’ day just a little bit better.
Outside of my busy work schedule, I love spending as much time with my family as I possibly
can. I have been married to my husband, Scott, for twenty-two years. We have two beautiful
children, Nathan and JoAnna, and the most handsome grandson, Joe Michael. I love to travel
to see new places or revisit places my family loves most. However, our best times are hanging
out around the house, especially on the back porch with our family and friends on what we call
“Sunday Funday.”
I love wearing my purple and gold and cheering for the Indians! I am looking forward to a
successful school year in the classroom, on the court, the field, and on the track. The Anacoco
community has such a wonderful sense of pride, and I am so blessed to be a part of it. Go
Indians!!
